Brittany Demers, Freelance Web Designer and AAF Communications Chair

Q. Tell us a little about yourself and your business.

A. I am a freelance web designer. I am passionate about building an online presence for my clients. I am originally from New England and enjoy spending my vacations skiing in New Hampshire and Colorado. I spend my free time trying out new grilling recipes from Pinterest and learning to surf.

Q. What do you do for inspiration?

A. I attend 1 million cups every Wednesday. 1 million cups is an entrepreneur community. They meet once a week at Cinematique. Each week a new entrepreneur presents their concept to the group. I love the energy I have during and after the events, I do my best work on Wednesdays!

Q. What is your all time most memorable moment as a freelance web designer?

A. Recently I directed a photoshoot for a local chocolatier website I built. We were taking photos of the chocolate making process and while taking photos of pouring the chocolate, the photographer stuck her lense to close to the flame, haha. The lense was a tad bit chocolatey, luckily we were near the end of the shot list!

Q. What’s your favorite project you’ve ever been involved with?

A. I would have to say the chocolate website is my favorite so far, who doesn’t love free chocolate?

Q. What does the next 10 years of advertising look like to you?

A. I think brands have just scratched the surface in social media boosting and will continue to utilize social communities to promote and track conversions. In short: A social brand is a strong brand.

Q. What’s your favorite thing about working in the Daytona Beach area? What do you think Daytona Beach has to offer that other cities don’t?

A. I work in the Kress building on Beach Street. I love being in walking distance to local shops, restaurants and entertainment.  When I walk in to get my coffee at Sweet Marlays, the girl at the counter knows me by name. Beach Street has a local charm I love.

Q. If you weren’t working in advertising, what would you be doing?

A. I would be a starving artist. I love to paint and have been known to paint gifts for family members on occasion.

Q. What advice do you have for students/people just starting out in advertising?

A. Join AAF! More so, join a committee. We love fresh ideas and creativity.

Q. Where can people connect with you?

A. You can email me at bdemers1055@gmail.com

Q. Before you go, is there one last piece of wisdom you can drop on us?

A. Love you clients. Love you work.

Q. What project have you always dreamed of doing? (Existing or conceptual)

A. I’ve always dreamed of making a difference with my skill set. I would love to collaborate with a non-profit and help them build their web presence.

Q. What’s one misconception you would like to see cleared up the advertising scene in Daytona Beach?

A. That AAF is only for advertising professionals. If you are in business you are in advertising, and if you are in advertising you should join AAF.
